Even if you don't like museums, the impressive Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island, just a 10-minute drive from downtown Abu Dhabi, is well worth a visit. The Louvre Abu Dhabi, which opened in 2017, is the first of its kind outside of France. The structure itself is a work of art; the roof is metallic and resembles a cosmic dome! Natural light filters through the latticework, creating a lovely illusion on the inside. The collections here are very impressive, encompassing civilizations from ancient times to the present. They also have works by Monet, Da Vinci, and Van Gogh.
